Katherine Borst Jones, co-principal, is a founding member of ProMusica Chamber Orchestra. Professor of Flute and head of brass, woodwinds and percussion at The Ohio State University since 1985, she was awarded the Distinguished Teacher award in 1995 and the Distinguished Scholar award in 2008. In 1976 she founded the Flute Workshop, a summer program for high school students, now in its twenty-fifth year at Ohio State. Ms. Jones is a founding member of the flute, viola, harp trio, COSMOS, www.cosmostrio.org, (with ProMusica musicians Mary Harris and Jeanne Norton) which has commissioned and premiered pieces by Libby Larsen, Andrew Boysen, Stephen Main and Stephen Paulus. She is also a member of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and principal flute of the New Sousa Band which has toured extensively is this country and Japan. She has served the National Flute Association as program chair, and performer and president twice. She has performed and taught across the United States as well as in Europe, Russia, Japan and China where she is Visiting Professor at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music.
