Kay Slocum is Professor Emerita of History at Capital University. She received her training at the Julliard School of Music where her major teacher was Robert Mann; she also studied at the Aspen Music Festival with Roman Totenberg and Eudice Shapiro. Before joining ProMusica in 1992, she performed with the Ohio Chamber Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Youngstown Symphony, where she was principal violist. Prior to her appointment at Capital University, she taught viola and music history at Kent State University. Kay has recently published three books: Liturgies in Honour of Thomas Becket (University of Toronto Press, 2004), Medieval Civilization (Laurence King & Co., UK, 2005), and Sources in Medival Culture and History (Pearson/Prentice Hall, 2010)
